FICCI, a renowned industry association, sought to revitalize its digital presence. The existing (now, old) website, outdated and lacking modern design principles, hindered user engagement and brand perception. This project aimed to elevate the user experience by implementing a comprehensive UI/UX redesign and focusing on clarity, consistency, and intuitive navigation. The aim was to create a visually appealing and user-friendly platform that aligns with FICCI's prestigious brand image.

WHO ARE WE DESIGNING FOR?

FICCI's primary targets industry leaders, policymakers, investors, SMEs, academics, media, and the general public. These groups rely on digital platforms to access information, connect with peers, and stay updated on industry trends.


OTHERS IN THIS SPACE

FICCI's competitors are other Chambers - national and international - which are similar industry associations striving for members and influence across different disciplines and causes. They share overlapping memberships, compete in policy advocacy and lobbying, and offer comparable business services, leading to a competitive landscape for representing Indian businesses.

DESIGN PROCESS

To revamp FICCI's website while respecting the existing content structure, I began by analyzing websites of similar associations. This involved studying how they prioritized visuals, button placement, and brand colors, as well as the different layout strategies they employed to effectively communicate with their audience.


By creating mood boards and sketching out potential structures, I aimed to strike a balance between modernizing the design and ensuring a user-friendly experience. The goal was to elevate the website's aesthetics without compromising on usability.

USER-CENTRIC DESIGN

During the high-fidelity design phase, I prioritized user experience by strategically applying white space to declutter the information-rich layout. Additionally, I carefully selected typography and font sizes to ensure optimal readability and reduce the mental load on the user/visitor. To reinforce brand identity, I strategically incorporated the brand's signature colors into key UI elements.

CHALLENGES & LEARNINGS

Modernizing the website while ensuring it drives traffic and engages users was a significant challenge. To achieve this, I prioritized a user-centric approach, balancing bold, clean design with clear communication and structure.

Initially, the sheer volume of pages and information to be designed was overwhelming. To address this, I developed a comprehensive project plan to organize my tasks and track progress. This streamlined my workflow and facilitated effective communication with both the client and development team.
